CAD Medical Gas Zone Signage

FSMT produces CAD signage for both medical gas alarms and shut off valves.  These colorful, plastic protected signs, provide compliance with JCAHO guidelines for clarity in emergency signage.

The examples below, prove that a picture IS worth a thousand words when describing a particular alarm or zone valve coverage area.  These CAD signs include a “snip” of the floor plan drawing to provide an immediate visual map of each room controlled or monitored.

The signs are customized to include the facility logo and emergency contract information.  Concurrent with signage preparation, FSMT field engineers confirm coverage areas to eliminate confusion caused by remodeling and “over the years changes”.

Medical Gas Alarms Now Network with BMS

Rancho Cordova, CA – David Grant Medical Center, a major Department of Defense health facility, is one of many customers who have upgraded their medical gas equipment to include all digital warning system controls.

The medical gas upgrade included the advanced TotalAlert master alarms produced by BeaconMedaes.  The alarms monitor all source equipment, displays warning indicators in the hospitals control center and networks to the building management system via Ethernet connection.

The new medical gas monitoring system is wired into the facility’s “war room” control center.

“We are pleased to provide additional support for the military during increased military operations and homeland security functions,” said Dale Terry, FSMT president.  “Our country’s War on Terrorism requires top notch medical equipment and treatment availability for our military.”

Travis AFB has played a pivotal role in dropping more than 687 tons of humanitarian daily rations and 12,000 blankets in Afghanistan.   And more recently, has provided heavy airlift support for the war in Iraq.

Located at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California, the medical center serves 750,000 military beneficiaries.  Built in 1988, the facility is greater than two football fields in width and almost four football fields in length.  The staff includes over 1,300 military employees and 238 civilian personnel.  David Grant Medical Center serves as a major treatment facility for war casualties.

The base is the largest military installation in Northern California and is the headquarters for the 15th Air Force, the 60th Air Mobility Wing of the Air Mobility Command and the Air Force Reserve 349th Air Mobility Wing.

New IT Certification for Biomeds

Rancho Cordova, CA – Growth of information technology in the medical setting has led to new certification requirements for biomedical equipment technicians.

The most popular IT certification is the MCSE -- The Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer.  Those holding the MCSE certificate have a broad base knowledge and competency in core hardware and operating system technologies including installation, configuration, diagnosing, preventive maintenance and basic networking.”

“Since IT has acquired such a dominant role in medical technology, it’s essential to develop and maintain IT skills among our field engineers,” said Dale Terry, FSMT president.

“FSMT added MCSE engineers to our staff due to increasingly complex field service assignments from our clients,” said Terry.  “Stress testing equipment and CathLab Departments are just a few areas that require intensive IT support.”

New Data Shows Electronic Maintenance Documents Growing In Popularity

Rancho Cordova, CA -- Maintenance documents are growing in popularity reports the American Association of Medical Instrumentation.  According to new data, sales of electronic documents increased by more than five fold in recent years.

“Documents in electronic format hold numerous advantages over print versions, including a searching function, portability, and instant delivery,” said George Moore, FS Medical Technology Sales.   “Electronic formats also allow our clients to take advantage of company-wide access to mission critical maintenance and safety inspection information.”

All FSMT report documents are available in print as well as Adobe PDF files.  Electronic files can be downloaded directly from the FSMT Web site 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“After undergoing an extensive makeover in 2006, the electronic report edition has become an increasingly popular report format,” said David Tung, FSMT Sales Engineer.  “For example, one of our Bay area clients routinely loads all medical gas inspection data onto the hospital server to allow all engineers access to maintenance information.”

“Now, in addition to our CD based reporting, our clients may now use the FSMT Web site to access their data.  Our customers never loose their reports – since they are always available electronically.”

Tung also reports “Our biomedical records are very popular in electronic format and have become very important to clients in rural locations that may need to access their data on our Web site.”
